Parental Linguistic Inputs to Toddlers with Cochlear Implants during Parent-Toddler Interaction

Objectives: Parental linguistic input is one of the most important factors in early language environment young children. This study aimed to investigate characteristics parental toddlers with cochlear implants (CIs), aged 12-36 months, compared those typical hearing (TH); and explore relationships between variables development each group. Methods: 14 CIs 18 TH was examined during a 20 minute free-play activities. amounts proportion facilitative techniques (FLTs) CI groups. Results: Parents used more utterances shorter mean length utterance than parents TH. However, were exposed similar number different words less FLTs In group, high- low-level significantly correlated skills toddlers. there no relationship toddlers’ Conclusion: These results suggested that quantity quality findings can be develop parent education program intervention for CIs.
